Severfield is a leading UK structural steelwork fabricator operating across a broad range of market sectors. The first phase of a new Indian facility undertaking structural steelwork projects for the local market is now fully operational.

CEO Ian Lawson discusses the structural changes he has made to the company, including an emphasis on risk management, as well as the brightening outlook for the sector. Severfield is seeing more and bigger contracts coming to market, which should help the team support or possibly exceed 6% margins in future. As well as maintaining strength in its core sectors, including commercial offices, industrial distribution, transport and energy, the company is looking at opportunities in areas it has not worked in for some time. There is also reason for optimism coming from the JV with JSW in India, where losses have been greatly reduced and a general move away from concrete to steel is expected
